Travel Blogger Friday #11

Travel Blogger Friday #11

I don’t remember how I found Suzy’s blog but it was obvious others had and with good reason, the girl writes a mean blog post.

Suzy shares my love for that perfect view, high above everything else where you can look down and just be in awe of what you see. Her recent post Looking at Travel From The Greatest of Heights showcases some of her amazing views from across Europe and America.

Now I’ve always loved the feeling of looking down on a city. For years I would beg my parents to visit the lookout point in my home town so I could try to pick out places I knew. Then years later when I visited Hong Kong I rode the tram right up to The Peak Tower and watched as day passed to night and the city lit up for as far as the eye could see.

Why do I love this type of view? I think part of it is linked to my desire to see the world, you can see much more of it from above. The other part; well when your way up there away from the traffic and the noise, with just the birds for company I can’t help but feel a little special.

So that’s my favorite view, what’s yours?

You made my day!!! Thanks so much for the shout out here. It really means a lot to this girl. I’m so jealous of your Hong Kong view experience! My little brother, yes I know I’m jealous of him too, took all these videos of Hong Kong when he was there. I think it must have been the same view, but you could see EVERYTHING. You’re right…it is a feeling of entitlement to view these places from above. The rest of the place is below and somehow you are above, not to sound snobby, but it is a special feeling. Thanks again! I owe you a beer virtually ha, maybe even a case. Huge honor!

I agree with both of you! I just had an awesome experience about with seeing a city from a “great hight.” I took a favela tour in Rio last month and while in probably one of the poorest homes/shacks in the city I looked out the window and saw one of the most gorgeous views I have EVER seen. I could see all of Rio and her glory. This is an experience I will never forget.

Thanks Neha. I love writing it as I can use the time to read blogs and not feel guilty about getting nothing done. It’s justified as research 🙂
