Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle Kent

Leeds Castle has perhaps a more interesting past than others given its many owners but none of them seemed as interesting as its last owner, Lady Baillie. She invested a great deal of her fortune restoring the castle to its rightful glory which is obvious when you walk the rooms inside. She owned Leeds Castle from 1926 – 1974 and it was interesting to learn about how she added a pool, cinema and other entertaining facilities we would add to our own homes to a castle that was once home to Kings and Queens of the past.

Beautiful. I almost went to Leeds Castle in February on a daytrip, but opted for Warwick Castle in the end. Not that I am disappointed with my choice, but I really hope to go to Leeds Castle eventually!

Liz is passionate about the area you so eloquently described and runs walking tours around some of the places you mentioned and many others. You would have had a good deal more to write about had she taken you around I reckon.
